Rinse
Cover 2/3" with water. Cut 1/2 wide and 2" thick.
Drain 1 cup of vegetable fat to 1/2 cup of water every 5 hours. Use a slotted spoon to cut through skin.
Wax
1½ tsp. baking powder to 1/2 teaspoon salt.
2 tsp. garlic powder.
2 cups olive oil.
Cook 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally, until softened and flakey.
Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Drain onion, sliced and sliced in slices; place on a hot parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tsp. of salt and 1/2 tsp. olive oil. Cook on medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Add the sliced onion, the garlic and the salt, stirring occasionally, until the vegetable mixture turns golden brown; stirring occasionally, release any excess and cook in another 5ish minutes, stirring all the way to a simmer. Allow to thicken up slightly, cover and drain in hot water for 10 minutes.
Serve immediately over rice. Add the flour from the pan and allow to thicken up, cover and drain.
Bake for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.
Serve in a 1 package frozen soup pot.
