Capsicum spp., the name of the plant, stems mostly from a Latin verb with a root name, capricornis or from Latin capreo -- "dressing, covering, covering up" (cf. caprifolus, capris or lintacus). The leaves grow in clusters and form a broad, thick, green or yellowish-orange color; usually pink, though some may have more to do with purple. The leaves are yellow or pink; most are green or red. A single bulb has two or three shoots in each.
